Greetings music lovers,

Kept under siege by wild and freezing blizzards Neil Murray has been pondering his position while waiting for a break in the weather. The rain laden gales have sent the creeks running. The land is recharged and the swamps are full. Plenty of places for swans and ducks to nest.

Early last month Neil performed at the Tanks in Cairns for Naidoc week alongside Leah Flanagan and Chris Tamwoy. All three artists combined on “ Eddie Mabo”, ( which young TSI guitarist Chris said was “rad” ), “Blackfella Whitefella” and “My Island Home”

What's coming up!

Thanks to all those who fed the winter muse at the Grandview Hotel in Fairfield, Melbourne and the Grande Hotel in Hepburn, Victoria to support Neil and guitarist Damien Neil. These shows were so well received that more are planned.   You can catch them on Friday September 2nd at the Artback Gallery,Wentworth,NSW, Saturday Sept 3rd at the Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery, Vic and at the Grainstore, Nathalia, Vic on Sunday September 4th.

This month Neil escapes north to team up again with legendary Kimberly country rockers Fitzroy Express for a show at the Roebuck Hotel, Broome on Sunday August 7th. Neil will play again with FX at the King Sound Resort, Derby, WA on Friday 12th.
On August 16th and 17th at 6pm Neil will be doing a 40 min solo spot for the gourmet set at the Darwin Festival Dinner -“Past, Present Feast” in the Old Town Hall Ruins.

Friday 19th to Sunday 21st sees Neil along with a host of other acts performing at the Freedom Day Event at Kalkaringi NT which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the famous Gurindji walk off from Wave Hill Station and the birth of Aboriginal Land Rights.

Mid September will see Neil swing back to Qld with solo performances on Friday 16th in Oxley, Brisbane (info- Jackie Marshall 0411443884) and Saturday 17th at the Bison Bar, Courtyard Square, Nambour.

Further ahead Neil will be appearing at the Darwin Indigenous Leadership Conference on Thursday November 10th and is also confirmed to perform at the Majors Creek Festival, NSW from November 11th to 13th.

Neil Murray’s Getaway “Wurn Bulok” Lake Camp) is up and going. Enjoy a relaxing stay ( min 2 nights) in an historic, self contained bluestone cottage in victoria’s western district, within easy drive of the Gariwerd/Grampians. This is the residence and the region where Neil lived and wrote many songs between 1995 and 2013.

Neil, along with Kavisha Mazzella, Carl Pannuzo and Eva Popov have been selected to write songs for the Singing From Country Project which has its focus in south east Dja Dja Wurrung country  Victoria and commences in September.  Each writer is to generate two songs, to provide the community with 8 songs that celebrate connection to land.
