Neil Murray: February 2010
Hi Folks,
Thanks to Helen and all the staff at Brookfield Vineyard in Tassie, for making their venue the setting for another intimate and exquisite concert by Neil on January 30th. Then there was the annual pub show at the Republic Bar on the 31st to the stalwart fans who still gather there whenever Neil comes to Hobart.
Much thanks and appreciation goes out to Phil & Jane who provided accommodation for Neil on their fabulous bush block in Neika and who also organised what may well be the best house (read outdoor bush) concert that Neil will do this year.
Well all those who caught Neil and his crack band at the EBC in Brunswick and the Oakleigh Bowling Club (5th and 6th of Feb) were treated to a scintillating evening. He even trotted out a barnstorming version of Wilderness! - A song he hasn’t performed live since the 1990’s.
Leah Flanagan impressed as well with a classy set backed by bassist Tom Jones.
Neil and band performed at the Palais in Hepburn on Friday Feb12th. The Palais is a fabulous venue but unfortunately it seems difficult to get a crowd there. The Mt Rouse Music Festival in Penshurst more than made up for it the following night where Neil had the crowd dancing and the set list was dispensed with and Pete Denahey joined the band for the latter half of the set.
This week, Neil heads to NSW where you will catch him and band on February 19th at the Heritage Hotel, Bulli and at the Harp in Tempe on Wednesday February 24th where he will be backed by Bill Heckenberg, (drums) Russel Nelson (bass) and Jim Moginie (gtrs /keys). The Harp gig will be his album launch show for NSW- so supporters in Sydney please come out and show yourselves!
Neil will complete the run with an acoustic performance (accompanied by Jim only) at Lizottes, in Kincumber, Central Coast on Thursday February 25th.
Neil Murray’s new album - “Witness” – is scheduled for official release by ABC Music on February 26th. Please go out and bother your local ABC shop! Or purchase it from the ABC Shop Online.
